With hundreds of millions of plastic bags being produced year on year, what was once a convenience has now turned into a menace affecting the environment and the whole worlds wild and marine life in ways unimaginable when these bags were first introduced.
Whilst the argument rages on between Goverment, Business and the scientific world, as to weather non oil based biodegradable plastic bags are any better or even worse for the environment, the problem is being compounded day after day.

:: Plastic in the sea is causing some catastrophic changes to quite massive eco-systems. By the time we start feeling the effects of this, it will already be too late.

:: Note that throw-away bio-degradeable bags are not necessarily the answer. We must opt for long-lasting non oil-based alternatives.

:: Great Britain holds alot of power and gets a lot of respect from other countries. Take the lead and many other countries will follow

:: Absolutely, why not? Leading question or not, the point it makes is sound (I personally don't think this is a leading question at all). We can observe the damage being done by plastic bags, so let's use different materials. I wonder if there is a problem that exists that is easier to solve than this...

:: Only a legal ban from the government will work.

:: this is a rather leading question...

:: Something must be done, sooner rather than later, regarding this situation.

:: I don't understand why we are still using these bags
